Introduction

“Deep Learning Applications on Weather” is a research group of Deep Learning Research & Application Centre (DLC) focusing on the application of different deep learning architectures and applications on weather.

Terms of Reference
(a) To review and conduct researches on deep learning in the aspect of weather, including but not limited to analysis, forecast and communication;
(b) To advise DLC on broadening the fields, algorithms and common applications of deep learning; and
(c) To explore collaborations with relevant external parties.

Current Ideas

  • Image captioning – To automatically generate captions for weather-related images using deep learning
  • Object recognition – To identify cloud types from photos
