Background:

Dr. Ling received his BSc and MPhil in Physics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and PhD in Applied Physics from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (POLYU). He was awarded the C. N. Yang Scholarship and the L. P. Chun Charitable Trust Fund Scholarship during his study.  After his graduation, he worked as a research associate at POLYU, and then as a quantitative analyst in the gambling industry.

Dr. Ling focused on topological insulators, spatial-temporal symmetries, photonic crystals, and metamaterials in his postgraduate study. Since then, he worked in the field of data science and machine learning in the gambling related industry, for examples, football match forecasting, spam mail filtering, optical tracking and positioning of players from football match videos, casio game simulations, and recommendation systems.
