Mr Tam received his BSc in Physics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was on the Dean’s Honours List and received University General Education Best Essay Award (Silver Award) during his study.
Mr Tam’s research focused on tropical cyclone climatology and forecasting previously. During his undergraduate career, he participated in the one-year internship and summer internship programs of the Hong Kong Observatory. Using statistical models to post-process direct model output from numerical weather prediction models, he improved the accuracy of tropical cyclone intensity forecasts. His research findings were presented in World Meteorological Organization Typhoon Committee annual sessions and attracted the attention of other official meteorological agencies.
Currently, his research interests include application of deep learning on natural language processing, weather analysis and forecasts. He is also active in social media and website building.
